Graduates
Shem applied to the Bishop Spartas Trust in 2017 when his overseas sponsor died as he was completing his third year studying Chemical Engineering at Makerere University in Kampala. The Trust funded his final year, and he was awarded his B.Sc. In January 2019. He has since been employed in Quality Control with Harris International Ltd, the leading Uganda manufacturer of foods and beverages.
Athanasios was funded by the Trust through his final year at secondary school and three years studying Computer Science at Kampala International University. He graduated as B. Sc. In June 2020 and works as an IT Technician at Metropolitan International University in Kampala.
Dimitrios completed his five and a half year training at KIU Medical School, funded by BST throughout, and received his MBChB degree in November 2021. Because of Covid restrictions the graduation ceremony was presented online, and Dimitrios was selected as one of only 10 of the 300 medical graduands to take the Hippocratic Oath live. He began his hospital internship in April 2022 at Mubende Regional Referral Hospital, where he contracted Sudan variant Ebola in September, and was for several days close to death. Mercifully he survived, and has made a full recovery.
Phionah Helen graduated with a B. Ed. (Science in Education) from Kampala International University in June 2022, having received BST funding from the beginning of the three-year course. Since graduation she has been teaching science at the school where she did her final teaching practice.
